One of my favorite things about being CEO of Community is sharing good news with you, and today, I have GREAT news to share!
When we built the Longview Hospice Care Center nearly 40 years ago, it was Washington state’s first inpatient hospice facility and it remains the only inpatient hospice facility in Cowlitz County. The Center was expanded in 1997 and has not been significantly updated for nearly a quarter of a century.
The passage of time has brought advancements in medical care, security, technology, and infection control. Families in our community are growing and we need larger and more private patient and family rooms. It’s time that the hospice with the most experience in our state has a facility to match, and to propel us into the coming decades.
I am very happy to report that we have already raised nearly half of the projected $4.2 million cost, with a $1 million private gift, $765,000 from the State, and other large gifts.
