Q&A
What inspired you to become a nurse?
I decided to become a nurse in high school from spending a lot of time in hospital settings helping take care of and translating for my Russian-speaking grandma. My conversations with her nurses inspired me to take on the career. As I went through schooling, I was further motivated when I discovered that I enjoyed spending time and providing loving care to my patients. I also enjoyed advocating for their health and being able to provide education for things like disease process management and exacerbation prevention.
What makes Community unique compared to other places you’ve worked?
Being able to work in a Community based home health setting has allowed me to achieve my personal goals as a nurse. My favorite part of being a Home Health Case Manager is being able to see my patients one-on-one in the comfort of their own home. I’m able to provide quality care without consistent distraction, assess early signs of medical complication, and seek a resolution with the patient’s doctor directly to avoid hospitalization. Most of all, my favorite part is seeing the smiles of my patients.
What’s your favorite on-the-go snack while working?
As a Home Health nurse, we are always on the go between clients. I always pack easy, healthy snacks to have available during my drive.
What’s your favorite hobby right now?
I scrapbook in my free time after work. I love creating memory books that are personal and unique — I’ll even work on multiple books at the same time!
What’s your favorite book?
I’m not much of a book reader since I usually have a hard time finishing any book I start. I enjoy reading my monthly Nursing 2021 journals, though.
What’s your karaoke song?
I probably would never sing at a Karaoke night but if I had to, I would definitely sing a Christmas song, no matter what time of year it is. Nothing beats my love for Christmas.
Tea or coffee?
I love coffee. It keeps me fueled for the day.
