LONGVIEW, Wash., September 13, 2018 – The Health Care Foundation has approved a challenge grant of up to $50,000 to provide charity care for Community Home Health & Hospice patients in their Longview Hospice Care Center.
Individuals with no financial resources who need care at the end of their life have nowhere to turn for inpatient hospice care. These individuals may have no insurance, they may be homeless and they may need extraordinary care outside the norm. Some live in unsafe home environments. Funds raised for charity care designated for the Longview Hospice Care Center, along with the matching funds offered by The Health Care Foundation, will support Community Home Health & Hospice in providing the care that these patients need through the end of their life. Inpatient care includes housing, medication, medical supplies, meals, nursing, personal care services, social work, spiritual care and care plan coordination with the patients’ primary care physician.
Friends of Hospice Southwest Washington has made the first gift toward the challenge, in the amount of $10,000.Their gift was designated specifically for the care of veterans in the Longview Hospice Care Center. Gifts designated for veterans in the Longview Hospice Care Center meet the criteria of The Health Care Foundation’s challenge grant. With these gifts, Community Home Health & Hospice is able to provide intense medical attention with frequent monitoring of pain and symptoms. They also help patients’ families provide for their stay, along with emotional and spiritual support. The focus is on patient comfort and dignity with utmost respect.
All cash donations to Community Home Health & Hospice designated for charity care for the Longview Hospice Care Center qualify for the challenge match from The Health Care Foundation, up to $50,000.
