After 21 years of living more than 3,000 miles from her 10 siblings, Loretta returned recently to the Pacific Northwest. Now spontaneous “sisters” trips to the coast take only a quick text and a short drive. Because her sister, Sheryl, works at Community, Loretta became one of the agency’s first monthly donors. Loretta said becoming a Community GEM (Give Every Month) donor was the “least she could do for a great organization that has cared for her mother, father, other family and friends.” Her deceased parents Mary and Joel share a veteran’s brick laid in our memorial garden’s military bench area, too.
Loretta isn’t new to monthly giving as she supports other local nonprofits this way. Monthly giving is easy according to her. While she can’t afford to make one large gift, she can afford to make consistent monthly gifts which have a greater financial impact over time.
Loretta plans to continue giving monthly because she recognizes the value of hospice care and understands that nonprofits like ours need community support. And because someday she will need hospice care herself. She knows from personal experience that Community provides physical, emotional and ‘soul’ care for patients and families—even for their pets.
Loretta feels lucky to have a big family and be near to them again. She also feels fortunate that “wonderful hospice care” is just down the road.
