Like many before her, Maria (Mia) Holt didn’t have aspirations to work in hospice at the start of her career.
Hospice is mysterious up until it creeps into one’s life and opens their eyes to a whole new experience filled with healing, love and comfort.
“I started my career at a nursing home and while working there, discovered a love of caring for hospice patients,” said Mia, who had plans to become a psychiatric nurse. Her discovery chose a different path for her, though: “I felt a calling.”
Of the 15 years she’s practiced nursing, Mia has been with Community for six of them. She loves her job, and it shows through the countless notes of gratitude sent by hospice families who’ve experienced her kind heart first hand.
