Community Day Care

Our mission

Community Day Care provides quality child care services in a nurturing, educational and loving environment that meets the individual needs of children and their families.

We strive to:

•nurture each child’s development, individual qualities and potential

•support families through strong partnerships

•create an inviting atmosphere which allows adults and children to discover, explore and celebrate families

•create a work environment which encourages professionalism, continued education, growth and diversity.

Our philosophy

At Community Day Care, we believe children are best served in a stimulating environment that encourages creative and developmental growth appropriate to each child’s individual needs. Our center provides activities to enrich and enhance each child’s cognitive, language, social, emotional, physical and creative development.

Through hands-on experiences, children create, explore, solve problems, learn and interact with others as part of their daily schedule. Children develop a positive self-concept through a balance of self and teacher directed activities. In addition, they have opportunities for solitary play as well as group activities.

We recognize that parents are the primary and most important provider of their child’s nurturing. We see our role as partners with parents in their children’s education and care. Our staff serve as positive role models while providing supportive, nurturing and responsive care for each child’s unique needs.

Parents are welcome to visit their child during the day, or they can use a computer to log on and watch live video of their child’s activities.

Our programs

Infant/toddler

The infant/toddler program is structured to meet the individual, physical, social and emotional needs of each child. Our environment is physically safe, cognitively challenging and emotionally nurturing. Our daily schedule provides for individual needs and routines. We post lesson plans for parental review and input.

Preschool

The preschool program meets the needs of children 3 to 5 years of age. They explore, experiment and discover in all domains such as art, science, math, reading, social development and much more. We use a balance of individual, small group and large group activities to create a learning environment. We post weekly lesson plans for parental review and input.

School age

The school age program is individualized to meet the needs of children, ages 6 to 10 years. We offer programs before and after school, and during school holidays and vacations. Scheduled activities encourage physical exercise, creativity and homework help.

About our program

Community Day Care is state-licensed and uses Washington State Early Learning and Development Benchmarks including the five child-development domains. It is open to children of Community Home Health & Hospice employees at a discounted rate, and to the community at large. Call us for drop in child care availability.

We accept children of all races, creeds, colors, and national origins between one month and 10 years of age. We embrace the diversity of culture and other variations that families bring to our center.
